Approach

Whether this is your first time looking for a  therapist or you are coming back to therapy, I want to honor the courage, time and energy it took to get here. My practice is rooted in social justice principles, acknowledging how different oppressive systems and “-isms” impact your mental health and wellness. I work from a client-centered and strength based framework and believe that you are the expert in your own journey. My role as a therapist is to walk alongside you in this journey and to provide you with tools in working towards your goals for our time together. I hope to build a collaborative, trusting and gentle space where you feel safe and free to be your most authentic self.

My approach to clinical practice is eclectic, drawing from different modalities that sparks curiosity and connection while fitting your needs and how you process. Some modalities I draw from are Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Trauma Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

I have experience and enjoy working with teens (16+) and young adults, folx who identify as Asian American or folx from an immigrant background. I also have experience and enjoy working with individuals around:

  • Racial/Ethnic identity development

  • Anxiety/Depression/Stress management

  • Trauma recovery including issues related to family of origin

  • Young Adult transitions

  • Gender and Sexual identity development

  • Teen Issues, especially related to intersectional identities

About Me

I am a second generation Korean American and the oldest daughter of immigrants. I grew up in a family and community where there was shame and stigma around asking for help. At different points in my life, I struggled with finding professionals that I could relate to. Both these experiences greatly shaped my own journey into social work and the mental health field. I have experience working in schools, nonprofits, community organizing and in the child welfare system. Originally from the Midwest, I spent my young adult years out on the East Coast and moved to Washington in 2020 to pursue my Masters in Social Work. You can find me spending time with my spunky rescue pup, Nova, running, hiking and exploring coffee shops in the greater Seattle area.

Training

I have a Masters in Social Work from the University of Washington.

I also have training in Trauma Focused- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
